ABOUT ME

Currently, I hold a position as Assistant Professor of History within the Social Sciences Department at Clarion University of Pennsylvania, a small public university in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE). I represent our department to the local chapter of APSCUF (Association of Pennsylvania State Colleges and University Faculty) of which, as a labor historian, I am a proud member.  I look forward to growing our history offerings, making connections with local historical societies and museums, and guiding aspiring historians to careers or further education.

I also recently earned my Ph.D. from West Virginia University in the study of 20th Century Immigration and Ethnic History. At West Virginia I've spent five years teaching history courses for the Department of History. I've enjoyed time teaching as an adjunct at Pierpont Community and Technical College as well as Westminster College (PA). Professionally, I have done a lot of work in the field of Public History and love working with organizations and individuals, particularly in adding digital components to historical sites and projects.

Beyond the professional pale, I'm a Michigan man through and through. I feel very fortunate that I grew up in metro-Detroit and then spent many years living in the Upper Peninsula while attending Michigan Tech. It was in the U.P. that I grew to love the outdoors. If you are looking for me around the Clarion area in the spring or summer, chances are I'm out enjoying the North Country Trail or Allegheny National Forest (if I haven't escaped back to the lakes of Michigan!).
